It’s time to hang the lights again

It’s time to hang the lights again
It’s time to trim the tree.
But it’s also time as most of us dread.
To spend time with family.

I’d like to spend the holiday up on the slopes
But I know this Christmas it’ll be Uncle joe’s
And hearing him tell all about his ingrown toe
Not the nail the whole toe, don’t ask me, I don’t know.
Or what about Dear Aunt June
Who’ll insist each year that I try a prune.
Or their darling little children with their grubby little paws.
Who I’m very tempted to tell them all about Santa Claus….

Or people I barely know dropping in on my home.
All of this makes me want to spend Christmas Alone!

My father  in-law says my light don’t look right.
And my own Mother wants to come and spend the night.
Of course I’m expected to give up my bed.
So my wife and I will sleep outside and use the poodle to rest my head.

It’s great to have my family.
That’s why I plan to move away, overseas.
I can handle them much more peacefully
If they don’t live so close to me.
But when Christmas Eve comes and I see them all in my home……
I think…
It’s better than spending Christmas…..
Alone!
